Whether the EDC system on your screen is Medidata Rave, Oracle Clinical One, Veeva Vault EDC, or REDCap -- whether the sponsor is a global pharmaceutical company running a Phase III cardiovascular trial or an academic investigator conducting a 40-participant pilot study -- the fundamental workflow you execute as a coordinator is the same. You log in. You select the subject. You navigate to the correct visit and form. You enter data from your source documents. You save. You review. You submit.
I emphasize this because new coordinators sometimes feel overwhelmed by the sheer variety of EDC platforms in use across the industry. A coordinator working three concurrent studies might log into three different systems on the same afternoon, each with its own layout, its own color scheme, its own terminology for the same concepts. One system calls it a "query"; another calls it a "discrepancy." One uses green checkmarks for completion; another uses blue circles. The surface differences are real and occasionally confusing. But they are surface differences. The underlying structure and workflow are consistent across platforms because they all serve the same regulatory purpose: capturing protocol-required data in a validated electronic system that produces an immutable audit trail.
